Even as Uwan has weakened into a typhoon, the state weather bureau on Monday warned that 30 areas in Luzon and the Visayas remain under threat of life-threatening storm surges as the typhoon continues to cross the Luzon landmass.

In its 2 a.m. storm surge warning, PAGASA said the dangerous storm surges may occur in the next 24 areas in low-lying or exposed coastal communities.
