Security forces have launched a sweeping operation in parts of Manipur, dealing a significant blow to insurgent networks operating in the state. In coordinated actions over recent days, personnel arrested 15 cadres of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA), including two suspects linked to the deadly September 19 ambush on an Assam Rifles convoy, and detained six United Kuki National Army (UKNA) members after a separate operation by the 36 Assam Rifles.

The arrests and seizures mark one of the most intensive counter-insurgency moves in the region in months and come amid continuing ethnic tensions and a fragile security environment in Manipur.
