(Trinidad Express) Chief Justice Ronnie Boodoosingh has vowed to push for a more “efficient, high-performing Judiciary” as he warned that citizens are waiting too long for their matters to be heard and for decisions to be delivered.

Speaking at the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago’s annual dinner and awards on Friday at the Hilton Trinidad hotel in St Ann’s, Boodoosingh said improving timeliness in the courts would be one of his top priorities in the months ahead.

Justice Boodoosingh, who was appointed Chief Justice on October 22 this year following the early retirement of Ivor Archie, told members of the legal fraternity gathered at the event that the public was entitled to expect more from the court system. “Citizens have the right to expect the hearing of their cases and delivery of decisions in a fair manner within a reasonable time,” he said,
