Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is playing the field again. Reports suggest that Pakistan wants the US to invest $1.2 billion to build and operate a terminal at Pasni Port in Balochistan province. Pakistan also wants the US to build and operate a railway line linking Pasni to its western provinces.

The port town in Gwadar district on Pakistan’s rugged Maran coast is over 140 kilometres east of the Chinese-run Gwadar port and 300 kilometres east of Chabahar Port, where India operates a terminal.
