West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday reiterated her criticism of the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), accusing it of βunilateral and wilfulβ release of water from its reservoirs and declaring that the state βdoesnβt need dams.β The remarks came ahead of her visit to flood and landslide-hit areas of north Bengal, where at least 23 people have died after relentless rain battered the hills through the weekend.
