Over one crore central government employees, pensioners, and their families are set to benefit from the government’s biggest reform in the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) in the last 15 years. The Union Health Ministry has revised package rates for nearly 2,000 medical procedures, a move that directly addresses long-standing complaints from hospitals and beneficiaries.

The changes, which will be implemented from October 13, 2025, are designed to make healthcare more affordable, accessible, and inclusive.

For years, CGHS patients have faced difficulties getting cashless treatment as hospitals cited outdated package rates and delayed reimbursements.
