The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court has quashed the preventive detention of a 20-year-old labourer from Jalgaon, calling his year-long incarceration βillegal and unconstitutional.β The court also directed the Maharashtra government to pay Rs 2 lakh in compensation to the petitioner, Dikshant alias Dadu Devidas Sapkale, and recover the amount from the salary of the Jalgaon District Magistrate who had issued the detention order.
