The first phase of the US-brokered peace plan has been agreed upon by both Israel and Hamas, bringing hopes of ending the two-year-long war in Gaza that started with Hamas militants killing around 1200 people in southern Israel in a surprise attack.

The initial de-escalation is part of a 20-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. Israel has agreed to the proposal in full, while Hamas has given its consent to some parts of the deal. That means there is no clarity yet on which points have been agreed upon by both parties.
