The year 2025 seems to be the year when smartphones are finally shedding some weight. After years of bulky camera modules, massive batteries, and thick designs, brands are once again exploring the art of slimness. And Tecno, surprisingly, is leading that charge in the affordable segment, at least for now. The company’s new Tecno Pova Slim 5G is its boldest attempt yet to deliver a design-first smartphone that doesn’t just look premium but feels refreshingly light in hand. But while it wins hearts with its form factor, can it balance beauty with everyday usability? Let’s find out in this review.

Design: Dressed to impress

At just 5.95mm thick, the Tecno Pova Slim 5G is one of the slimmest smartphones you can buy right now and the thinnest under Rs 1 lakh. That alone makes it stand out in the crowded budget market, where most phones continue to feel chunky and heavy. The moment you pick it up, you will notice how absurdly light it feels at 156 grams. It is so light that you might occasionally forget you are carrying it in your pocket.

The credit for its slender profile can also be given to the curved frame that the device has, which makes it feel very slim. This gives it a premium vibe that most devices in this segment don’t usually have. In fact, many people I came across have mistaken it for the iPhone Air, which is a big compliment.

The body is made entirely of polycarbonate, with a glossy finish on the back that looks neat, albeit a bit slippery in use. Tecno includes a hard case in the box, which not only improves grip but also protects the delicate frame.

You can pick from Cool Black, Slim White, and Sky Blue shades.
