Head coach Gautam Gambhir said he will back Shubman Gill to the hilt as long as the young captain does and says the right things, heaping praise on how the 25-year-old has carried himself with the captain’s armband so far. Gambhir recalled his first conversation with Gill after he was appointed Test captain ahead of India’s tour of England earlier this year, saying the youngster had come through one of his toughest tests with flying colours.
