The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Gujarat has announced a Kisan Mahapanchayat in Botad at 5 pm on Sunday after its Farmers’ Cell president, Raju Karpada, was detained by the local police on Friday night. Karpada was taken into custody after midnight on Friday as he staged a sit-in protest at the Botad Marketing Yard amid allegations that farmers were not getting a fair price for their cotton produce. The party attacked the BJP, alleging that the state’s farmers were not being treated fairly.
