The race to secure computing power for artificial intelligence is heating up, and OpenAI has decided that depending only on Nvidia and AMD is no longer enough. The company has announced that it is stepping into chip design with Broadcom, in what could be one of the biggest pushes yet to expand global AI infrastructure.
On Monday, OpenAI and Broadcom revealed that they will together develop and deploy racks of custom accelerators designed by OpenAI, with deployment expected to begin late next year.
