There are two kinds of people during Diwali and the week leading up to it. The first are busy playing Diwali dress-up, hopping from one card party to another, reposting fairy light-filled pictures, and waking up with hangovers only to repeat the cycle all over again. And then there are the others - the ones reading this (including you) — the spectators, with no party to attend, quietly watching the endless show unfold on social media.
