The soap opera ‘General Hospital’ was the big winner at the 52nd Daytime Emmy Awards taking home seven wins. The 2025 edition of the awards, organised by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), recognised the best in American daytime television programming for the year 2024.

Actor and television anchor Mario Lopez hosted the ceremony, held on Friday night at Pasadena Civic Auditorium, California. The annual event has been moved this year to October from the usual May or June period.

The most nominations across the main categories had gone to ‘The Young and the Restless’. The long-running and popular show was up for a trophy in 19 categories.

Notably, Sir David Attenborough set a record to become the oldest-ever winner of a Daytime Emmy. At 99, Attenborough won as the host of ‘Secret Lives of Orangutans’, beating a record Dick Van Dyke set by winning at the age of 98 in 2024.

The wins of ‘General Hospital’ included Best Daytime Drama Series, Best Drama Actress (Nancy Lee Grahn), Best Supporting Drama Actor (Jonathan Jackson) and Daytime Drama Writing.

‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ and ‘The Secret Lives of Animals’ won three awards each, while ‘Black Barbie’ and ‘Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade’ won in two categories each.

Paul Telfer won Best Actor for the first time, for his role of Xander Kiriakis on ‘Days of our Lives’, and Nancy Lee Grahn won Best Actress in a Daytime Drama Series as Alexis Davis on ‘General Hospital’.
