The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership has been discreetly drawing up a list of legislators who may not be given party tickets to contest the West Bengal assembly elections next year.
According to multiple sources in the party, the exercise is well underway, and the list features several prominent faces, including celebrity MLAs who are now seen as βliabilityβ.
It is a standard practice in Indian politics for major parties to replace roughly 30 per cent of their sitting MLAs in every election cycle. But the TMC, working closely with its poll strategist I-PAC, appears determined to go beyond routine course correction.
