The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the “vote chori” (vote theft) case in Karnataka’s Aland constituency has uncovered a large-scale attempt to delete thousands of genuine voters from the electoral rolls ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections.
According to top sources in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), suspects were paid Rs 80 for each deleted vote, and applications were filed to remove 6,994 voters from the rolls.
