When you hear the phrase ‘pregnancy tourism,’ what comes to mind? Usually, it’s expectant mothers travelling to countries where jus soli (citizenship by birth) grants their children automatic rights and, often, a better future. It’s a calculated move that many couples resort to in the hope of securing passports, healthcare, education, and social benefits.
But the concept takes a complete U-turn when you head deep into Ladakh’s Aryan Valley, where the narrative around pregnancy tourism has little to do with paperwork or hospitals.
