Alabama on Thursday executed a man convicted of helping burn another man alive over a $200 drug debt more than three decades ago, using a controversial nitrogen-gas method for the second year in a row.

Anthony Boyd, 54, was pronounced dead at 6:33 p.m. at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility.
