When the Hockey India League returned, the Delhi SG Pipers were a team that caught the attention of everyone. The team had PR Sreejesh as its mentor and was backed by tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi, and the first auction saw the team make quite a statement.
The Delhi franchise was in the mix for all the big players, with Sreejesh giving Delhi Capitals co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi a run for his money with the sheer ferocity with which he lifted the paddle. While they weren't able to land the big names, the team had something else in mind that surprised everyone.
