The Andhra Pradesh Police on Saturday said the explosion of two 12 KV batteries in the bus that went up in flames after hitting a bike, killing 20 people in Kurnool district. However, a preliminary report suggests that a large consignment of smartphones on the bus, along with the vehicle's batteries, intensified the spread of the blaze.
On Friday, the two-wheeler, which was caught on camera driving recklessly before the accident, was hit by the bus and dragged forward underneath the vehicle, leading to the bursting of the bike's fuel tank and subsequent fire. Twenty people - 19 bus passengers and the biker - died.
