The Election Commission will conduct the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across 12 states and Union Territories (UTs), Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar announced on Monday.
The exercise will be held in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Among these, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and West Bengal are scheduled to go to the polls in 2026. Kumar clarified that in Assam, the revision of electoral rolls will be announced separately.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Kumar said, βToday we are here regarding the rollout of the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision. I extend my greetings to the voters of Bihar and bow before the 7.5 crore voters who took part in a successful SIR. The Commission also met election officials from all 36 states and discussed the process in detail.β
