Nvidia and Oracle, the two tech giants, have joined forces with the US Department of Energy (DOE) to create Solstice, a behemoth of a machine featuring a 1,00,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. The system will anchor the DOEโs ambitions to harness artificial intelligence for scientific breakthroughs in energy, national security and beyond. A second, smaller sibling named Equinox will pack 10,000 Blackwell GPUs and is scheduled to go live in the first half of 2026. Together, the pair will crank out a jaw-dropping 2,200 exaflops of AI performance, linked by NVIDIAโs ultra-fast networking technology.
