India is set to get its own official version of caller identification soon, one that will not rely on third-party apps like Truecaller. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has given its approval to a proposal from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to introduce a new system that displays the real name of the caller on the receiver’s phone screen. The service, known as Calling Name Presentation (CNAP), aims to bring transparency to incoming calls and help users make informed decisions before answering.
