For the first time in six years, US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping came face-to-face on Thursday on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in South Korea, in a high-stakes meeting aimed at easing months of trade tensions and restoring stability between the worldโ€™s two largest economies.

โ€œWe know each other very well, we have a great relationship. We are going to have a very successful meeting. Good to see him again. We could sign a trade deal today,โ€ Trump told reporters as he and Xi posed for the cameras at the Gimhae International Airport in Busan, moments after the two Presidents shook hands.

"He (Xi) is a very tough negotiator, that is not good. We know each other well. We have always had a great relationship," he added.
