Tata Sons is a saga spread across two hundred years, two continents, tragedy, fate, and fairytale adoptions. It began with one manโ€”Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tataโ€”whose dreams laid the foundation of the Tata Group.

When Jamsetji died in 1904, his sons Dorabji and Ratanji became torchbearers of his unfinished vision. Dorabji became the builderโ€”overseeing Tata Steel and institutions of learning and welfare. Ratanji, more a dreamer than a builder, stood beside him, dignified and steadfast, until his early death in 1918 left his wife, Navajbai, alone and childless.
