Tata Sons is a saga spread across two hundred years, two continents, tragedy, fate, and fairytale adoptions. It began with one manโJamsetji Nusserwanji Tataโwhose dreams laid the foundation of the Tata Group.
When Jamsetji died in 1904, his sons Dorabji and Ratanji became torchbearers of his unfinished vision. Dorabji became the builderโoverseeing Tata Steel and institutions of learning and welfare. Ratanji, more a dreamer than a builder, stood beside him, dignified and steadfast, until his early death in 1918 left his wife, Navajbai, alone and childless.
