The Allahabad High Court has clarified that the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, applies in full to private unaided schools.

The court stated that such institutions are also bound by the no-detention policy that prevents schools from holding back or expelling students until they complete elementary education.
