For Indian students and their families, sending a child overseas for a four-year degree in countries like Canada has long felt like a feasible investment.
But today, that investment is being stretched, and the rules around work and stay are shifting underfoot.
According to the ApplyInsights Report 2025 by ApplyBoard, the average cost of a four-year undergraduate degree in Canada for international students has now crossed CA$177,000, or roughly CA$42,000 per year.

This represents a 4% annual increase over the previous academic cycle.
When combined with living expenses, accommodation, and insurance, the total cost easily exceeds CA$200,000 over four years, a sum that’s becoming increasingly challenging for middle-class Indian families to afford.
