For three days, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s bustling commercial capital of more than seven million people, has been engulfed in chaos. According to the main opposition party Chadema, around 700 people have been killed since demonstrations erupted on Wednesday following chaotic polls that barred President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s two strongest challengers from the ballot.
