Microsoft is stepping up its internal oversight amid growing criticism over how its technology is used in conflict zones. The company has launched a new feature inside its Integrity Portal, allowing employees to confidentially report any misuse of Microsoftβs technologies, a move that comes just weeks after global scrutiny over the firmβs alleged links to Israelβs military surveillance operations.
In an internal memo sent to staff on November 5, Microsoft President Brad Smith said the new section, called βTrusted Technology Review,β will let employees raise ethical or policy concerns related to how the companyβs products are developed or deployed.
