Microsoft is setting up a new artificial intelligence division that aims to create machines capable of outperforming humans in specific areas but not in ways that threaten them. The company says its goal is to build what it calls βhumanist superintelligence,β or AI that advances human wellbeing rather than replaces it.
The initiative, named the MAI Superintelligence Team, is being led by Mustafa Suleyman, Microsoftβs head of AI and the co-founder of DeepMind.
