India’s diplomatic engagement with Africa received a significant boost as President Droupadi Murmu embarked on a four-day state visit to Angola, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian President to the country. The trip comes at an important moment, with Angola celebrating 50 years of independence and India and Angola set to complete 40 years of formal diplomatic ties in 2025.
