GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Arch Manning started Texas’ game at Florida by pumping up the small but mighty Longhorns crowd, there to see the team with so much preseason hype open up SEC play.

The Longhorns’ quarterback ended the afternoon with two more interceptions to his name, a gnarly scrape on his elbow from all the hits he took and his team searching for a whole bunch of answers.

Six weeks into the season, No. 9 Texas, which started No. 1 and is set to tumble much further in the rankings, is sitting at 3-2 with no signature win, the latest letdown coming in a 29-21 loss to embattled Florida after an idle week. Steve Sarkisian’s crew has wins over only San Jose State, UTEP and Sam Houston State, and thus a shocking number of questions as October gets rolling and SEC play picks up.

The questions start with Manning and an offense with no identity.

“I think as an offense, we’ve got to play better if we want to win these SEC games,” Manning said.
