When Pramesha Biswas was envisioning her bridal look, her makeup artist asked if she would ditch her glasses and wear contact lenses instead. For Pramesha, it wasn’t even a question. She always knew her glasses would be part of her wedding look.

β€œI’ve been wearing glasses since 2003 because of eye power. They’ve been a part of my identity for two decades now. I have never worn contact lenses before; no way was I going to swap my glasses with contacts just because almost every bride does that,” she tells India Today.

When you picture an Indian bride, eyeglasses are probably the last things that come to mind. But when you look around, you’ll notice plenty of women who wear them every day. Pramesha Biswas at her wedding ceremony in Noida in November 2025.

We aren’t talking about sunglasses. The kala chashmas have long been associated with brides who bring the swag.
