OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman has defended the company’s latest language model, GPT-5, saying it is a major step forward in artificial intelligence despite the early wave of criticism. A month after its rocky debut, Altman claims the new model is already helping researchers make progress in scientific studies and insists that OpenAI’s broader goal of achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) remains very much alive, Wired reported.
