Just because the Indian team is playing within the boundaries of the Indian map does not necessarily mean they are playing in familiar home conditions. Ravichandran Ashwin has made a striking and somewhat controversial claim following Indiaβs Test series against the West Indies.
The Indian Test team recently played matches in Ahmedabad and New Delhi against the West Indies and is scheduled to travel to Kolkata and Guwahati for a two-match Test series against South Africa later in November and December. The recently retired spinner expressed his concern that having such a large number of home venues across the country does not always benefit the Indian team, even when they are technically playing at home.
