Perturbed by what he terms as a "lack of credibility and transparency" in the ongoing probe into the Air India flight AI171 crash, the father of late Captain Sumeet Sabharwal has approached the Supreme Court seeking a judicially monitored inquiry into the accident that killed 260 people, including 241 passengers.

The writ petition, jointly filed by Pushkaraj Sabharwal and the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) on October 10, seeks the constitution of a "Court Monitored Committee" to probe the AI 171 crash.
