Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has delivered only two hits in the last six years. His last film, 'Dream Girl 2' (2023), collected Rs 106 crore nett in India and emerged as a hit. Before that, his last major success was 'Bala' (2019), which earned around Rs 110 crore nett and was declared a super hit.
Between these two films came five releases - one in 2020, one in 2021, and three in 2022. None of these performed well at the ticket window. Khurrana did not release any film in 2024. 'Thamma' marks his return to theatres and with the Diwali release window. The film is easily one of the biggest tests of his career.

At 41, Ayushmann remains one of Hindi cinema's most dependable actors.
