Shortly after the airstrike, Obama promised that soldiers would be held accountable for any mistakes or wrongdoing. At a news conference announcing the results of the investigation, Gen. Joseph Votel, the overall Special Operations commander at the time of the airstrike, stated that while there would be no criminal charges, at least a dozen service members had been disciplined.
