Nine pieces of jewellery from the historic collection of Napoleon and the Empress have been stolen from the Louvre Museum in a daring heist. Thieves reportedly used a basket lift to access the world’s most visited institution on Sunday morning.

The audacious theft unfolded as tourists were present inside the Galerie d’Apollon, where a significant portion of the French Crown Jewels is displayed.
