The mayor of Waterford City and County, cllr Seamus Ryan said the approval of the airport investment was a “historic day for Waterford and for the entire south east”.
A €30 million private investment into Waterford Airport has been approved by Waterford City and County Council following a long-running public funding bid to lengthen its runway to attract commercial airlines.
Local councillors were not informed of the identity of the investor ahead of the vote to approve the investment.
