The Blue Jays are running out of innings to catch the Seattle Mariners, who hold a 3-1 lead through six innings of play in Monday's high-stakes Game 7 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) unfolding at Toronto's Rogers Centre.

Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh hit a solo home run off Toronto reliever Louis Varland to start the top of the fifth inning, giving the Mariners a 3-1 lead that the Blue Jays must vault past if their season is to continue beyond tonight's game.

That's because the team that wins Game 7 will move on to the World Series. The team that loses will see its season end.

Seattle had built its lead to 2-1, after an earlier, solo home run from Seattle's Julio RodrΓ­guez in the top of the third inning.

The Mariners had held an early lead in the first inning, but the Jays quickly answered to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of that same inning.

Toronto slugger George Springer got on base with a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first inning, and made it home via an RBI single from outfielder Daulton Varsho.
