US President Donald Trump seems to be following the same strategy in the hope of getting India to cut down on Russian oil purchases. For it, he has swapped his favourite refrain of stopping the India-Pakistan conflict with New Delhi assuring him of winding down Russian oil purchases.

Over the past week, Trump, known for his fondness of self-congratulatory claims, repeated four times that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally assured him of halting Russian oil purchases. Surprisingly, Trump's boast on stopping the India-Pakistan conflict, which he has repeated over 50 times, has been MIA (missing in action).
