Dr Gitanjali J Angmo, wife of Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk, has written to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other top leaders seeking her husbandβs immediate release. Wangchuk was arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) on September 26, days after violence during a protest in Leh demanding statehood for Ladakh left four people dead.

Authorities have accused Wangchuk of inciting the protestors and of maintaining alleged links with a Pakistan PIO (intelligence officer).
