Every time I review a foldable phone, I tend to say this: you don’t probably need a foldable phone because they are not there yet. Foldable phones remain work in progress. Google probably understands this well enough. That is the reason why the company has worked hard to bring to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold something that is not yet available in any other foldable phone. The new 10 Pro Fold is the first of its kind to sport IP68 rating against water and dust. And yet, even the improved Pixel Fold remains a work in the progress.

Having said that, if you must have a foldable phone I would suggest that you take a serious look at the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. While in terms of design and hardware — most notably the chipset — it is a notch below some others in the market, in overall experience it is more than the sum of its parts. It is, I believe, the best foldable phone to buy in India, although it could have been better if only Google could have added a bit more to its hardware, most notably to its storage capacity.

First foldable phone with IP 68 rating

Compared to last year’s foldable Pixel, the 10 Pro Fold is not a radical change in design. Instead, the story this year is solid improvements even if they are not immediately apparent. The most important design change is in the hinge. Google has introduced a new type of gear-less hinge, which is more durable and can withstand years of wear and tear without breaking down. More significantly, the new hinge allows the design of the phone to incorporate better ingress protection against water and dust. This makes the 10 Pro Fold an IP68-certified foldable phone.
