Prop 187 passed, but it never took effect because of legal challenges. However, that particular fight is really credited with giving Democrats their supermajority in the state, because Latinos were activated in a huge way for many years. You’re the perfect example of that. In that context, I’m wondering how you look at the legacy of Prop 187 now. Because over the years the Democratic Party ended up taking more liberal stances on immigration. Do you think that Democrats took the wrong lessons from those debates? I don’t think so.
