Brittany Higgins is likely to be declared bankrupt in the Federal Court on Tuesday, less than three months after she was ordered to pay former senator Linda Reynolds well over $1m in defamation damages and legal expenses.
Ms Reynolds filed a creditors petition against Ms Higgins and her lawyers will ask judge Craig Colvin for a sequestration order that allows a trustee in bankruptcy to take control of her property and financial affairs.
