The New Orleans Pelicans fired head coach Willie Green, the team announced Saturday, after a 2-10 start to the season that has featured three losses by 30 points or more.

Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego will serve as interim head coach, and executive vice president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said Saturday he expects Borrego to remain in the role for the rest of the season.

Green, 44, was in his fifth season as head coach in New Orleans, a stint that included two trips to the playoffs and the franchise’s first season with 49 or more wins since 2008-09.
