Van Liere told me that he kept in touch with Lozano by phone for over 15 years, meeting her only once, in a bookstore in Dallas. In their conversations, she was sharp and fun, and kept close tabs on the New York art world by voraciously reading newspapers and magazines. She occasionally talked on the phone with Sol LeWitt and Carl Andre, and was sometimes seen at art openings in Dallas.
