The animal birth control (ABC) programme for stray dogs, which has remained suspended for several years in the city, is set to resume soon. Two non-governmental organisations - International Trust of Peace and Vet Society of Hyderabad have been selected through tenders for conducting animal birth control programme for stray dogs in areas within the jurisdiction of Puducherry and Oulgaret municipalities respectively.
While the programme has already commenced in Oulgaret municipality, it is expected to resume in Puducherry after Deepavali. For this purpose, infrastructure work at the two centres - one each at Puducherry and Oulgaret have already been readied.
