Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire and Kansas coach Lance Leipold had a heated exchange following the Red Raiders’ 42-17 win over the Jayhawks on Saturday night in a game where the Red Raiders were penalized twice as a result of fans throwing tortillas onto the field.

After the Red Raiders’ victory, the postgame handshake between McGuire and Leipold became tense. Audio from KAMC-TV in Lubbock captured Leipold telling McGuire he has a “really good team,” then saying something indecipherable that apparently included an expletive, which likely was Leipold raising issue with the objects thrown onto the field, which is against Big 12 rules.

In response, McGuire said, “Yeah, I know.” Then, after shaking hands, Leipold said, “That’s bullsh–” and another expletive. McGuire shot back, “Coach, I can’t do anything about it. You want me to do something (expletive) about it?”

As Leipold walked away, McGuire followed the Kansas coach while yelling back at him. “I know! And I said I got it!” before the two were separated.
